Soap Box Race Tomorrow

Had a really busy week. Been working on my Soap Box car which is nearly done, working on customs as usual and been really busy at my day job. The race is tomorrow and after completing the build I am now adding aesthetic things to the car. I decided that I was gonna wear my Hellboy box head during the race so I'm turning my 3 wheeler into Hell On Wheels. Here you can see the front fender that I added last night. The last things I need to do is attach the rear hub caps and paint the wood and the white part of the bike body the same red. I still need to figure out a way to cover up the blue straps that hold the chair to the rest of the frame. When I bought them I had a different paint scheme in mind... plus they were the cheapest ones.

I just finished these little guys for a collector that from what I understand, came into the whole vinyl scene because of the article about my Chomping at the Bit show in Nintendo Power. Now he's on the boards and has placed more than a few commissions. These guys are super cool. The variety in the types of masks looks awesome all together.

Los Straitjackets

Gonna be working on 3A stuff this weekend including my 3A bothead Dr. Who Cybermen head — Yeah, that's right. Any Who fans out there are gonna love this thing. As well as my collab with Konfucious, our homage to Ripley, the Dropcloth/APTK Mech Loader. Still got Rover and my Heavy Bramble T-Rex build underway as well. I'll take some pics this weekend. Dunny's, Munny's and everything in between will get some work as well. I've got probably 15 projects in flux right now.

Go Bills, and it would be sweet if my Buffalo Bulls could upset the Vols on Saturday — not optimistic though.

2nd Half of my Frankenstein Soap Box Car

I'm going to pick up the 2nd half of the main components I need to complete my Soap Box Car — a kids BMX bike. I found this on Craigs List also and cost me 30 bucks. All I need from the bike is the front wheel, the hand break, the fork, and half of the front triangle. So basically I'm gonna cut the bike in half and attach the front end to the wheel chair minus the handle bars, and mount the hand break between my legs which will still activate the breaks on the front wheel. I start work on it this weekend and will have process pics for you.

In other news, I still have a bunch of sketches to finish and still have new projects coming in. As per usual, great stuff on the horizon for some new and some tried and true collectors of my work. Still trying to finish my vectors to submit to KR for production designs — it's gonna happen someday. I promise. Hellboy will be making his 2nd appearance at the Little 5 Points Halloween parade here in Atlanta at the end of October. And The N3rdLink will be recording our first show in the coming week or so... I personally have not mentioned this yet but The N3rd Link is going to be a podcast about all sorts of awesome and nerdy things featuring me, and KR forum members Geoffcuddy and the creator, Zonnie5. Still sorting out some of the logistics of recording 3 different people in 3 different locations but the first show should be happening soon.

As always...if you guys need anything, you know where to find me.

Soap Box Car

So a co-worker is hosting a Soap Box Car race on his street to benefit charity and we're making a car as a group at work, but I also decided to make my own car...vehicle. I have less than 2 weeks to finish it but I picked up the most important piece to the puzzle last night at a yard sale.

Boom — 20 bucks.

All I need now is a kids bike with a a hand break and pegs, and some 2 X 4's. Here is my super quick sketch of what the 3 wheeled soap box vehicle will look like. I'm flipping the wheel chair so I'll actually be sitting on the back rest with the front wheels sticking up in the air above my head.

M.W.3

So this is highly classified stuff people...so if you're reading this then you and I are probably acquaintances so I'd very much appreciate it if you didn't repost this or really even talk about it on the forums. This is my preliminary idea for the new M.W series. Please excuse the offbeat wording of the series but I'm trying to avoid this post just popping up in Google searches. Anyway, the idea is basically a complete re-sculpt of the Dunny to more resemble a nesting doll. The figure would be cast completely in resin other than the arms and magnets would hold the 2 pieces together. Inside instead of it being another doll would be a mini Dunny zipper pull cast in resin as well. So it's not REALLY a nesting doll, but more like a Dunny with a secret compartment. You can see where it would separate and the dotted line represents the compartment inside. This design is really just the first design I've done — trying to do something a little cleaner and more minimal BUT the hero is really the sculpt so I think really anything could go on it. The only other design I have started is a play on the traditional nesting doll design but instead of it being a russian character it would be something else. I initially thought a Geisha would be cool but this was before Gold Life came out, and now I'm thinking a hula girl or something...you know, honoring my roots and all. Please...if anyone has thoughts, ideas, impressions... anything at all concerning this design, please email me, pm me, call me...just voice your opinions. I know alot of artists are very private and overly controlling of their work but I'm learning to embrace the ideas of the public to make something that I alone could not have conceived. Talk soon folks and thanks.

Sketches

So I've been trying to get back in the swing of things but I'm at a point where I just finished a bunch of things and now I have a ton of sketches that need to be done — so here are a few of the things that I have coming up. I usually only use sketches to convey the main points of the design. It is typically not a representation of color or perspective. I think doing these gives the collector a more concrete idea of what is coming and though I really like the surprise — at least with this people aren't completely surprised with something that they absolutely hate.

Back from Vegas

So I'm back from las Vegas. Had a good few days to let my brain rest. I didn't so much need a physical break but my mind had been running a million miles a minute for months on end....so it was good. Hung out a the pool and got some sun, saw some shows, ate and gambled. I'm back and refreshed.

Tons of sketches to go out this week for approval including Medusa, Perseus, The Kraken, Los Straight Jackets, Batman, Martian Man Hunter, Guy Gardener and maybe Hexadecimal. Shipping a bunch of things this weekend, and as always...I'm always available. Just email me!

Box Heroes 2011

I don't have any of my own pictures yet as I personally couldn't take any in my suits, but here are a bunch that I found on Flickr. I will be getting a disk soon with like 200 pics of Abe and me at Dragon Con on Friday night and I will upload those to my Flickr when I get them. Here is what I have for right now.

I am Hellboy and Thor, and my fiance Amanda is the Scarlet Witch. My friend Stephen is Abe Sapien and Captain America.

Abe and Dragon Con

So Dragon Con started today and I'm stuck at work right now, but I'm leaving soon getting my newly completed Hellboy suit together and heading down there for the costume contest and for some all around people watching — yes even from inside the suit. Here is the first pic that exists of Abe. Hopefully a ton more to post later tonight.
