What's up

Haven't posted in a while but lately I've been using Instagram @Nikejerk to post pics and progress stuff so you can find me there if that's easier for you. I just finished my Doctor Who Mini-Munny's for the Aritsts Without Borders show that took place at Art Whino on Sat. They did not sell and if they don't most likely I already have a buyer for all 3 of them. I got a good bit of interest in inquiry about them so right now the only way to get them is to buy them from the gallery.

I secured my Comic Con tickets thanks to Mawuli, Geoff and John, my N3rd Link bros as we all teamed up on that Sat morning just to get my pass as they already had theirs. Good thing too because only 1 of us actually got through to purchase so it could have been a giant failure. That means that I shouldbe at SDCC and I plan on having a few pretty cool things for the show. Right now I have a collab piece in the works with my friend Greg and this is the first I've ever spoken about it but it's going to be a custom 9" or however tall it is Skelve. We're completely re-sculpting the top half and there will be a small run of them. I would also really like to have a small run of something else I have in mind but even 4 months away the time is just slipping away.

I say I should be there because I made a deal with Amanda that I can only go if I complete the majority of the commission work I currently have before then. I have been crushing it so far in 2013 having finished numerous pieces but I still have a ton of work to do. These are the projects that are up next:

Coarse Paw and Jaws - 2 different projects.
Adventure Time Dunny's
Desert Punk Mini Munny
  Kit Fisto Mini
Spawn and Redeemer 8" Mascots
 Sayan Coarse Paw
Fish Captain 3" and 8" U-Boat
Kraken 8" and finish Perseus 3" Dunny
Post Apocalypse Ninja Turtles Mini Set
Harry Potter Mini set

And I have some stuff for 2 series' that I need to get done as well. See, I'm still retarded busy and it's not gonna let up any time soon. And that's not even all of it. I need to call in sick and stay home and work on toys...but between SDCC and my sisters wedding I've already allocated most of my vacation time... and I don't call in sick.

New Stuff

I dropped the first Flight Mutation on Saturday last week. It didn't sell right away but it was gone in about 15 minutes. I should be doing at least 2 more variations and then that is it for the Flight Mutations.

And this is a project that I have been working on for months and has been on my desk for over a year. When you've got so much to do things start to back up and this was no simple project. It is a mash-up figure with Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. The original figure that was provided to me was the resin Thor figure produced by Plastic Booty Toys:

I didn't think the head offered much in terms of design especially since this was going to be a mashup figure and not a straight up Thor figure so I proposed we chop off the original head and make a brand new one that was articulated. I also proposed that we give him an interchangeable arm. I felt his left arm was perfect to depict Iron Man but didn't offer much in terms of Captain America so I chopped that arm off too but made it so it could be reattached using magnets and sculpted a 2nd arm from scratch to match the right arm that would be able to hold Caps shield. All in all there were all kinds of modifications that I had to do to get everything to stay on and to get the figure just to stand up because of the added weight distribution. Once I finished the figure I designed constructed and created a custom box that would house the figure and all his accessories AND I designed and produced an accordion process book that gave a little insight into how I did things and showed about 2 dozen pictures that were taken along the way. From start to end this is one of the most comprehensive custom pieces that I have ever done. It has a ton of my style and personality in it but the idea and direction was provided by the collector so it truly is a collaborative effort. Though it took forever these are the type of projects that I love...because I love a good challenge.

Rarity

I'm gonna have a Flight Dunny custom up in my store in the next day or 2, maybe even 2, at a very reasonable price. I'm trying to work in some quick stuff here and there while I slave away at the plethora of very difficult projects I have on my plate at the moment. All is looking towards a goal of having a near clean slate for Comic Con.

Follow here and on Twitter if you're interested in the Flight Dunny Mutation. They will be ready to ship when they hit the store.

Hope everyone is good. I've been working major OT at my regular job so I've been kicking ass on all fronts.
