Process Book

Check out the process book that I made for the collector as well. Documents almost the entire process of the making of Infernus.

Process Book

Here are a couple pics of the actual book. It's held together on the spine by a rubber band and if you take it off it becomes a large format accordion book.

Infernus Paw

I'm back from holiday break and this piece had been delivered as a Christmas gift. I'd been working under wraps for the last 2 months or so and just completed it on time. It was a really difficult and re-work as you go kind of customs because it was something I'd never done before and because of the shape of the sculpt. The story that goes with this piece is Infernus is a fire elemental. At his core he is unforgiving and lethal but had no ill intentions towards anyone and thus had no focus or direction. In hopes of hiding himself away from the world Infernus donned the suit, simultaneously creating a funnel for his raw power to funnel to and when needed...out.

The suit is made completely with Super Sculpey and is held together solely by magnets. The suit comes apart into 32 pieces, just like a 3D puzzle. Making the suit was quite an undertaking and I'll have some process pics on how it went down. For now here are some pics.

Dead Lines

Often times people tell me I'm crazy when I tell them the things I do to meet deadlines. The most common of those things is ignoring sleep. But realistically what're you supposed to do when there is work to be done and only so much time left to finish. I guess you could think back a few weeks ago and say "I wish I hadn't wasted that day at the movies," or "I should have stayed home that night," but deadlines don't really work that way. Even if I had stayed home that night I would still have stayed up all night and would still find myself sitting at work having been up since 10:30 last night (I squeezed in a few hours on the couch with Amanda after work). And I ask the question again, What are you SUPPOSED to do. Just go to sleep and accept that you missed the deadline? Well, I don't do that. When shit's gotta get done, you do what you gotta do. And guess what... the figure is done and it is the shit. Pics to come soon.

Dunny Walker Sold

So before I could even get back any of my 3A customs the Dunny Walker sold... and wasn't even on display at the gallery. How sweet is that!! I knew there would be a Dunny lover out there that would really be into this piece. It wasn't on display at the gallery because there wasn't enough room for all of the pieces submitted AND I had 6 pieces in total so having only 1 get bumped was acceptable. I should be getting the other 4 pieces back sometime in the next month or 2.

I've got a few more things to unveil before the end of the year. It's been a bit quiet since the 3A show but that is because I've been working hard to finish up a couple of time sensitive projects that are proving to be very difficult. Hope everyone is avoiding the malls and the traffic and the craziness that comes with the holiday season. I know it's not just here in Atlanta but trying to get anywhere this time of year is a pain in the ass. Luckily I walk to work and there is never any traffic. Though, I did almost get run over by an F350 yesterday. Some people think it's clever to drive at me and then break at the last second like, I should think twice before going before out of turn at the 4 way stop. Merry Christmas dick head.

Mini-Munny Hexadecimal

I've been a bit quiet lately because I've been slaving away to finish a few things including this. This is a Mini-Munny based on the character Hexadecimal from the television show Reboot. In the show Hex showed her moods and emotions by swapping an innumerable amount of masks during the cut scenes. I believe you rarely if ever saw her change her mask, it would cut away from her and next thing you know she went from happy to insane in an instant. So for this figure I wanted to make it so the figure would have a docking station for a universal mask plate so you could literally change out the faces on the figure. We started out with 5, but I left it open for the collector to be able to order more masks. I sculpted 1 mask, made a silicon mold and cast 5 exact duplicates and since I still have the mold I could create more at any time. The 5 initial faces are happy, sad, skeptical, surprised and insane. In addition to the figure I made this custom box that acts as a housing and a vehicle to display the 5 faces. There is a magnet buried in the walls of the box so once the box is unfolded Hex stands in the center and her 4 extra faces adorn the walls beside her. Private commission.

Most Wanted 3

Most Wanted 3 is coming up and I've posted some prelim ideas and pics of the proto sculpt on here in the past but here are2 designs that I came up with for the actual art...see what you think.

The sculpt itself is based on the idea of a Dunny nesting doll, so the figure will come apart in the middle and has a secret compartment inside that holds a zipper pull that relates to the design. The outer design was to be reminiscent of traditional Russian nesting dolls but I didn't want to stick too closely to the composition as I felt it would be too derivative.

This first 1 was my initial idea but it got rejected citing that the shape of my sculpt doesn't really lend itself that well to the design. And I had to agree though I still like the design. It was a bit forced trying to make the girl sexxy and feminine on this sorta stocky body.

And this is the new design — The Eskimo Girl. I think the design works much better on the shape and is actually more reminiscent of a traditional nesting doll design than the Hula girl. No word on this one yet. It might get rejected too.

You can see the proto sculpt if you scroll down to the next post — minus the arms. It's the Sneak Raccoon Dunny split in half.

I would love some feedback so email me or pm me on the boards. I'd like to hear what you think.
