Battle Beast

Anyone remember Battle Beasts? I certainly didn't when one of them showed up in the mail, but the more I looked up about them the more I remembered actually having a bunch of them as a kid. They have these little hologram things on their chests that are heat sensitive. Anyways... I was commissioned to re-create a Battle Beast named Hare Razing Rabbit using a Bic Buddy....can you see the actual figure? I swear, he's in there.

Spade Knight

This is the 2nd of the 4 Dunny's in the Suited set. His head is also clear but with the black dye it is much less obvious that it is so. I casted the 4 heads to have a peg on them, instead of the peg going INTO the head like on a regular vinyl Dunny, and the peg has a magnet on the end just for a little more, non aesthetic security. I call this guy the Spade Knight.

Hellboy Finished

So Hellboy is about finished. Just some last minute details. My opinion...he looks awesome.

Diamond Jack

I've been working on a set based on the 4 suits now for maybe over a year. There was a really long concepting stage since all 4 designs are completely original... and this is the first reveal of the first design. I really wanted to make this set special so I did a ton of new things including casting clear resin heads, dying them, screen printing a pattern for a piece of clothing... and molding and casting a clear torso. The whole set will be revealed once I finish the box.

Really Old Studio Pic

So I've really been enjoying showing pics of my workspace and I'm going to continue to do that so you guys can see how things change and move as I work on new things. So I was flicking through a bunch of old pics and I found this one from my last quarter at The Portfolio Center. I lived in a bigger apartment and this was my work area during school and as you can see it was a disaster. My old "roommate" wasn't as understanding as Amanda is about the messes. Amanda is the shit!!!

Office Toy Sanctuary

Since I spend so much time here I have a bunch of toys here to keep me company. Amanda wants me to bring the Jumbo Trooper home but he so rules at my office.

Brand Spanking New - Joining Kermit Down Under

These little gems have been in the works for 4 months or so. I backed myself into a corner when I modded Kermit, which was SIGNIFICANTLY less complex than the 3 new characters. I made Kermit taller AND gave him new arms so when it came to add 3 more of the Muppets to the crew I had to do the same. The use of the yarn and the felt also played into the theme, them being Muppets. All in all I think these guys are so sweet. The colors just pop when all together and are wholly super unique and different.

Commissions A'Plenty

So no new pics for now. My camera battery was totally dead while I was working last night but I''' have some new snaps later today or tomorrow. I've got a crap load of great commissions lined up for probably the next year. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to be working on all of these. I rarely turn down projects but it seems like the toy community has a ton of common ground so I can relate to almost everything that comes my way. Anyway...this is a vague run down of what I have lined up:

1 More Ichabod Variant

So as some of you know I do not make AP's of my MW Dunny's. I personally think it dilutes the already existing pieces because c'mon....they're exactly the same. So what I did for some of my most loyal fans was make some variants and sent them out as gifts. People that already had the original got a new head that was a new sculpt and was cast in clear resin and dyed orange. I still need to finish the last few of the resin head versions to send out, but I did manage to finish this 1 in time to go out with a few other pieces to the same person. This was the master for the resin head, so this is a 1 of a kind Ichabod variant. Hope you like him.

I've casually been calling him Ichabod Skellington.

3" Dunny Lion-O

Final pics of the Lion-o Dunny that I just completed for a loyal collector of mine. Should be out for delivery right now. This was a cool one because I love old cartoons and tv from my childhood and even though I didn't watch a ton of ThunderCats this iconic character can not be forgotten. I think he turned out great.

My Workspace

 I really need to commend my fiance Amanda for being so supportive and tolerant of the chaos and clutter that is my work space — of which is slowly bleeding out of the corner that it is supposed to stay in. I'm constantly in the midst of at least 5 or 6 different projects most of which are custom toys, but currently there are Hellboy appendages everywhere as well as a torso propped up by a tripod like a tailors mannequin. Amanda even has her own project going on — she's getting more and more involved in the personal creations for our Hawaii wedding next summer. She is making the origami cranes, a special invite package for our 4 sisters (2 hers, 2 mine) to be in the wedding, and she has found some really awesome origami bouquets that she might end up making as well. Needless to say,   our apartment is a disaster right now.

Couple other pics: I've got some Dunny's that I cast and dyed heads for, my old cardboard Thor suit fighting my nemesis Loki sans body, a sweet lot of TMNT weapons that my little sister found in a thrift store for 10 bucks, and my Manda loves tulips. I've had a tulip head dunny on the back burner for over a year. Not sure if anyone would really like it.

For those of you who are aware of my Cardboard Thor costume from last years Dragon Con this should at least look familiar. I will be donning the Mighty Thor again but as an encore my friend Stephen and I are unveiling Hellboy and Abe Sapien. Here's a first look at my cardboard interpretation of Hellboy.
